Background.
my husband and myself
I grew up in Ortonville, Michigan where I learned how to be a true Michigander. I graduated as one of the top ten from Brandon High School in 2004. During my high school years, I discovered that I loved French, I loved reading, and I loved writing. I also learned that I enjoyed teaching, even though I worked in the elementary buildings as a non-paid assistant. So when I started at Albion College in the fall of 2004, I thought that I would major in English and French, since I loved both subjects so much. It wasn't until after the first semester, after having taught French at a local Albion elementary through a program called FLES, that I realized that I was certain that I wanted to be a teacher. Upon more reflection, I realized that I preferred to be a teacher at the secondary level. As soon as I started in the Secondary Education program at Albion, I was placed in middle and high school classrooms; and I loved it. I knew that it was the perfect fit for me. Now, after teaching in four different schools since 2008, I am ready to move on to bigger and better things. I look forward to making a difference in education in any way that I can.
Currently.
My husband and I live in Oxford, Michigan with our dog and three children. I teach at the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills. Even though I've only taught in a few different high schools, I know that the IA is unlike any other. The atmosphere and learning environment is unbelievable. Every day I am more amazed by how brilliant my coworkers and my students are.
I graduated from Michigan State University's MAET program in 2014, so I now have my Master of Arts in Educational Technology as well as my Bachelor of Arts in French and English with Secondary Education. Currently, I am furthering my education by pursuing workshop opportunities and participating in book studies. I am also looking into getting my administrative certificate and/or a doctorate in education.

"I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit."
